Over time, a self-seeding biennial can behave almost like a perennial in the right conditions. Just be aware that the seedlings may not appear exactly where the parent plant stood.
Perennials: The Long Game
A perennial lives for three years or more, dying back to the ground each winter (in most climates) and re-sprouting from its root system each spring. This makes perennials the structural backbone of most established gardens — reliable, low-maintenance anchors around which you can arrange shorter-lived plants.
